Bucket Filling Mission for De Queen Primary
Our mission is to create a world of bucket fillers. A person can be a bucket filler or a bucket dipper. The way to fill a bucket is to be kind to someone. A smile is an excellent way to fill a bucket and it makes you happy. On the other hand, a bully-type person can dip into your bucket and then you feel sad-but he feels sad too. He not only dipped into your bucket, but emptied his as well. What a concept we can teach little kids! We can change the world, beginning with the children with whom we teach. Have you filled someone's bucket today?
What are Bucket Fillers?
"Bucket fillers" are those who help without being asked, give hugs and compliments, and generally spread their love and good feelings to others.
Bucket filling examples: opening a door for someone, giving a compliment, sharing, asking a new student to play, and cleaning up after someone else even though you didn’t make the mess
What are bucket dippers? "Bucket dippers" rob us of happy feelings by refusing to help with a task or by saying or doing cruel things.
How will bucket fillers be acknowledged?
Teachers or anyone employed by the school including cafeteria workers, custodial and bus drivers can “catch” a student filling someone’s bucket.
Whomever “catches” a student will turn in their boy names and girl names to:
DEADLINE DAY EACH WEEK: Every Wednesday by 3:30 p.m. (or second to the last day of the school week)
Please only send emails once a week not every day!
Please don’t turn into my mailbox or use post-it (it could get lost) UNLESS you notice a kid that’s not in your class or you are in a hurry to get it to me. (I know that happens a lot) ex: kids not in your class who are walking to class/cafeteria/ before or after school) Just get their name and grade
How will bucket fillers be rewarded?
Every Thursday morning during morning announcements we will take all the names in the counselor’s buckets and have a drawing (1 boy and 1 girl per grade). The winners will come to the office to pick a prize.
Every Thursday after morning announcements Mrs. Burgess or I will come to each classroom and hand out a sticker for each whose name was turned in to wear that day. (we can also just lay on the teachers desks if you are in the middle of teaching)
Bucket fillers will have their name posted on the bucket filler wall which will be located outside the cafeteria.
